The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels
We are delighted that The Parliament MEP Awards 2026 ceremony will, once again, be held at the prestigious Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
The venue will provide a wonderful opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in Belgium’s rich artistic heritage.
Last year’s winner of the MEP Award for Best Use of Social Media, Slovak MEP Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová focuses on protection of children online, digital security, healthcare, the rule of law, and media freedom—proving that policy and engaging communication about the EU can mix.
Elected to the European Parliament for the first time in 2024 for Renew Europe, she serves on the LIBE and SANT committees as well as the FEMM and IMCO and is Vice-Chair of the Intergroup on Children’s Rights. This year, she adds a new role: co-host of the MEP Awards.
Originally elected in 2019, and re-elected in 2024, Maria Walsh is currently serving her second term in the European Parliament. MEP Walsh represents the constituency of Midlands-North West which spans 15 counties across Ireland. She is a member of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
MEP Walsh is a founder and Co-Chair of the European Parliament’s Mental Health Intergroup and is one of the leading voices on mental health in Europe.
MEP Walsh sits on the European Parliament’s Agricultural and Rural Development committee and the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality committee. She is also a substitute member of the Justice and Home Affairs, and Regional Development committees. Her priorities include agriculture, regional development, women’s rights, and mental health.

Thank you
Thank you...
Our thanks to our host for the evening Quaestor Marc Angel (S&D, Luxembourg) and to Mariam Zaidi for being our master of ceremonies.
We would also like to extend our thanks to our distinguished judges who had the unenviable task of deciding the winners.
We thank all those people across the EU who took time to nominate someone for an award. Without whose nominations the awards would not be possible.
To our partner organisations who have supported the event we also say a big ‘thank you’.
We would like to give special thanks to every MEP, APA and Parliamentary staffer, whether or not they were nominated, shortlisted or were a winner, for their dedication, hard work and support of European democracy. Thank you!
