The European Foundation for Democracy is a policy institute that for more than a decade has been working on prevention of radicalisation. We seek to empower relevant individuals and groups from different European countries by helping to build capacity and resilience among communities.

EFD works with practitioners and civil society, media and policy makers, government officials and politicians throughout Europe to identify preventative approaches to address the phenomenon.

We have developed practical tools to support front-line professionals such as teachers and social workers in their engagement with at-risk youth; we provide training of practitioners, police and security services to understand the phenomenon and we work in close cooperation with EU expert groups including the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) to develop credible and robust alternative and counter narratives for young people who may be susceptible to radicalisation and recruitment.
